Rite Of Passage

Every culture has certain rites of passage. Our's seems to be stress and worry. You don't qualify as an adult unless you are weighed down by responsibilities and the stress of how to handle them. In fact most people panic if they are not worried thinking something is wrong with them and so they adopt worries of which they can do nothing about. The good news for these people is that there is a whole industry dedicated to meet their demands and it is called the media. Frustration, pessimism, stress are all in unlimited supply. If you are not liking the feeling of being relaxed then just switch on your TV and in about 15 minutes you will be back in the comfortable world of gloominess and the best part is you can then blame everyone else for why you are living in such a dark miserable place.

If you think the darkness is not enough and you need some anger curtains to intensify it then go on social media sites and read how your favourite celebrity or politician is being trolled. That is guaranteed to make you angry. Ahhh the wonderfully familiar world of misery, where nothing is ever your fault and your unhappiness is all because of this society, government, bosses, spouse etc etc.

Ask these people to move towards the light and they will do everything in their power to resist. Strange because all psychologists will tell you that the human mind is wired to move away from pain towards pleasure so how come this rule does not apply to worries and unhappiness? The answer is simple - because there is a belief implanted in this path which says 'this is what being an adult is all about and moving past this point will land you in a very lonely place'

You see we are social animals who crave the company of our own kind and the party is on this dark side of the belief where all your friends and family are groping and stumbling. Getting past this belief barrier will land you in an unfamiliar and sparsely populated area where the happy people reside, These people have learnt to selfishly guard their emotional state and have taken the responsibility of their lives in their hands. These people come across problems just like everyone else, but they also know that problems are not solved by constant fret. Instead of blaming others for these problems they seek out the lessons they learnt. These people are on the path of expansion which (to borrow from Star Trek) is the prime directive of our creation.

If you have not figured out why we were created in the first place and our actual purpose here, then praying copiously will not really do much for you. You will get relief from time-to-time but your permanent state will not change unless you accept your purpose and step into the light.
